Retail & Business

WVone works with local businesses, retailers. leisure, food and drink operators through our various stakeholder groups.  The aim is to get everyone involved to work together to improve the customer experience and therefore the viability and vitality of the City Centre.

By working with businesses WV One can:

  • Represent City Centre businesses as an indepedent voice at a strategic level with regards to planning, regeneration, future developments and service provision, including parking and signage.
  • Lobby on behalf of members, at local and national level, about City Centre issues including regular communications with senior officers, elected members and MPs
  • Connect the City Centre retail, commerce, entertainment and evening economy to identify common issues and solutions and to feed information back to WVone working groups or to external organisations
  • Target and attract new businesses into the City Centre to complement and expand the existing retail, leisure and night time economy
  • Inform City Centre occupiers and operators about future developments, current activities and encourage engagement and partnership working
  • Identify and co-ordinate initiatives and activities that encourage people into the City Centre both during the day and evening
  • Identify training needs and skills gaps, and identify solutions to improve customer service and experiences with the City Centre
  • Promote activities within the business retail community, within the partnership and to external organisations and the media
  • To exchange best practice and information, provide networking opportunities and develop links within the City Centre for mutual benefit
