World Record Mince Pie Challenge
19.12.11
Raising awareness of the good work The Haven Charity does involved a Mince Pie Challenge in the Mander Centre on Saturday. The current world records stands at eating 2 mince pies in one minute - sounds an easy record to break but with strict rules about size of pie, no water allowed and totally empty mouth it's not an easy feat!
Lucy went along to act as invigilator and crowds soon gathered to watch Tom Campbell, 107.7 Wolf radio's breakfast DJ, kick start the event. Lee Burton from the station also had a go, followed by members of the public and a handful of WM Police Officers and PCSOs.
Sadly no-one maganged to set a new world record but the event was great fun. Most importantly awareness of the work that The Haven does to support women and children affected by domestic violence and homelessness was brought to the public attention along with fundraising for the Charity. The City of Wolverhampton College's bakery supplied the mince pies and attended on the day to sell pies, cakes and christmas confectionery, also donating proceeds to the charity.

Colton Ellis tries to break the record watched carefully by WV One's Lucy.
